The Move

We've moved!

Well in case you did not know, we have moved to from Arizona to Michigan. Life is so fluid, and change can happen suddenly, or slowly.  In our case, it has been a little of both. We have tried to move for years, yes, years. Back in 2019 we tried to move to the Pacific Northwest, and it just never worked out. This effort to move would happen just about every year. We always felt that we left our hearts in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, though we never did agree with the large city living presented there, we just wanted to live where there were trees, lakes, ponds, and did I mention four seasons…?

As it turned out the Lord had different plans. This year we decided to visit my husband’s home state of Michigan. Then it hit us. “Could it be?” We thought, “could this be exactly what we have been looking for all this time?” Turns out, it was. We came home to Arizona and put our house on the market, and within 4 days, we were under contract. This completely took us by surprise, given our track record of not being able to sale our house before.

The world-wind of selling your home, your animals and everything’s else to move across country to a place we hav

e dreaming of for so long, took our breath away.

Now almost two months later, and a cumulative total of 2 feet of snow, we are so happy we made this move. It has not been without its challenges. Needless to say we are trying to overcome the challenge of a kitchen that was vandalized (prior to closing) and an unfinished basement. The other thing that surprises me is our house is bigger than our Arizona house, however, having a basement seems to visually cut the house in half, so its something that I am trying to get adjusted to.

Our kids have fully adjusted to the move. As most kids, they think the snow is “Awesome”.  However, because they are homeschooled, they don’t get snow days. But since their schedule is shorter, they get to play in the snow every time. A fact I find very cool.  We have found other homeschooling families in our area and are making plans to connect with them after the holidays.

I still miss my goats. Even as I write this article my eyes are welling up with tears. I know they are animals, and likely aren’t even thinking about me, but thats ok. I think about them. I miss their personalities, and I’m gonna miss their freshens. There is no replacing Maple, just no replacing her.

2025 is going to be an epic year. A year of new beginnings. New homestead, new memories, new gardens, and new animals. Our 13 acres is going to be filled with love, trial and error, and a whole lot of new memories that we will be documenting. Be sure to follow to learns more.

Best wishes

Lisa M.
